On January 11 and 12, a coaching seminar concerning key aspects of training female Russian national team players took place. The event was held at the Russian Olympic Committee's offices in connection with the 2018 Women's U18 World Championship which is ongoing in Dmitrov, Moscow Region.
RIHF executive director Dmitry Kurbatov and chief of the RIHF's ice hockey department Nikolai Uryupin spoke to the seminar's participants as the conference got started. Both emphasised the importance of exchanging experiences at such events.
During day one, general manager of Canadian female national teams Melody Davidson spoke about choosing and training players for Canada, before IIHF board member and chairman of the IIHF's women's category Suzanna Kolbenhaer discussed topics linked with developing the women's game over the world. Advisor to the RIHF president for women's ice hockey Mikhail Chekanov revealed to coaches how candidates for the national team are chosen, while chief of the RIHF's women's department Olga Votolovskaya looked at current issues concerning having more players available in women's ice hockey.
On the second day, Mikhail Chekanov and senior Russian women's national team head coach Alexei Chistyakov analysed matches of women's World Championships.
