On February 14, the male Olympic Athletes from Russia team will open the 2018 Olympic Games campaign with a match against Slovakia.
Alongside these two teams, Slovakia and the USA make up Group B at this competition.
At this stage of the tournament, the two group winners advance to the quarter-finals, while the best second placed team also goes forward to that round. The others will play in the Last 16 together.
In preparation for the Olympic Games, Oleg Znarok's team played exhibition matches against Belarus (3:0), HC Spartak Moscow (2:1 OT) and South Korea (8:1). Before the tournament, defenseman Yegor Yakovlev replaced the injured Dinar Khafizullin on the roster.
